The mutt robot, an eight-wheeled robotic ground vehicle, is designed to transport a variety equipment in the field. The mutt robot is based upon the Multi-Utility Tactical Transport system (MUTT) of the company and was designed to allow small dismounted units to transport gear on any terrain.

They are an integral part of warfare. Every major conflict, war, and conflict has seen specific vehicles serve a purpose, whether they are airborne, afloat or amphibious, off-road, or light reconnaissance all-terrain, vehicles that can be used for reconnaissance.

The American Willis and German Kubelwagen, for example, were well-known for their roles in World War II and Vietnam. These light off-road vehicles, which were designed to be used in deserts or at sea, have been a symbol of a certain time and place.

These military robot vehicles have also been used in search and rescue operations, as well as for attacks. Numerous systems are currently in service and many others are under development.

MUTT

General Dynamics Land Systems is being tapped by US Army to design a robotic vehicle capable of following soldiers across the battlefield and carrying their gear. The Squad Maneuver Equipment Transport (SMET) vehicle will help dismounted small units carry up to 1,000 pounds of equipment alongside soldiers, letting them focus on their missions instead of lugging backbreaking loads.

GDLS received the SMET's development contract in an Army competition. It was one of 624 systems that were expected by 2021. The contract covers support hardware, user training, technical support, and the initial contract at $162.4million.

SMET can be used in remote and forward locations. It can also carry enough gear to cover a 72-hour patrol. It can be either a leader or a follower of the squad.

You can equip it to carry a variety medical supplies, radios, or tactical electronic devices. It can be used for resupply and search for missing or wounded soldiers. Additionally, it can be equipped with machine guns to add protection against enemy attack.

SMET can also remotely operate to resupply units or provide surveillance for ground commanders. It can be towable from CH-47 or CH53 helicopters.

MUTT was in service for more 20 years, serving with more than 100 armed force units around the world.

The military MUTT can climb stairs and can be remotely controlled. It can last seven days on one charge and is highly durable.

The GDLS SMET vehicle is built using its MUTT semiautonomous robotic platform. It can carry a variety different combat and support functions and payloads. It can be used as a search and rescue vehicle, for combat operations and resupply, and has been shown to fulfill the US Army's Squad MAneuver Equipment Transportation requirement.

Three kilowatts worth of battery power powers the MUTT, enough to charge personal squad device. It can be remotely controlled and is engineered to evolve for new payloads, new controllers and increased levels of autonomy.
