The Army Research Laboratory

military technical college oman

Founded in 1992, the Army Research Laboratory is one of the United States' premier laboratories for land forces. This organization is dedicated to cutting-edge scientific discovery and technological innovation. It serves as a bridge between the scientific and military communities by marshaling both internal and external science and technology assets to meet the Army's future needs.

ARL's research program includes university-affiliated research centers and extramural academic research efforts. A strong governance structure supports these efforts. It is also complemented by specially designed outreach programs. ARL was also named a world-leading consumer education project in 2020.

ARL is headquartered at Raleigh-Durham in NC. It also has facilities Orlando, FL and NC. ARL is also part the Army Futures Command unit, which is the United States Army's unit responsible for developing, planning and implementing America's future Army. The White Sands Missile Range (New Mexico) houses the laboratory.

The ARL's research program consists of university-affiliated research centers, single investigator efforts, and specially designed outreach programs. The program also draws on the extensive technical skills of experts in the field. ARL may have multiple teams assigned to a single topic depending upon the need. The ARL's integrated research program is the Army's largest source of high-quality, integrated research.

The ARL's research program supports a variety of Army acquisition programs. These programs cover science and technology, including human factors analysis as well as technological innovation. The ARL also conducts an aggressive basic science research program for the Army. The ARL program provides the Army with cutting-edge science and technology that will increase the Army's chances in future conflicts.

The ARL's Open Campus program is an exciting initiative that will allow parts of ARL sites to be opened to non-ARL personnel. While the ARL is not currently providing specific funding opportunities, the Open Campus program will encourage collaboration and allow for greater innovation. ARL will be sharing information through the Division of Research to inform about these opportunities.

The ARL's Open Campus Program is being expanded and will include the ARL South, a site in Austin, TX. ARL will now be able leverage the expertise and resources of researchers in the southern United States. ARL partners with The University of Texas at Austin (UTAS) to help realize the Third Offset Strategy's objectives.

ARL's Open Campus initiative, which is being expanded by partnerships with regional universities and local universities, will continue to grow. ARL will offer internship opportunities for students from local universities to draw on its regional expertise. You can choose to do an internship in any of the six areas: materials science, photonics or advanced sensors, cyber security and energy research. An ARL summer internship is also available.

Open Campus, an ARL program that allows students and researchers to come together for important research, is a wonderful way for them. This program shows how ARL taps local resources and leverages regional expertise to serve the Army's needs. ARL can help students discover a role in the Army’s future, no matter if it’s a paid internship and/or an academic research opportunity.
