China is currently developing the stealth bomber design, the Xian H-20. It is being considered by the People's Liberation Army Air Force. It is expected to enter operational service in the 2020s. China's first subsonic stealth fighter bomber, the Xian H-20.
Xian X-20
The Xian H-20 bomber is China's next-generation subsonic stealth bomber design. This new aircraft is considered a strategic project by the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). The bomber is scheduled to enter service in 2020. China will develop the first strategic bomber dedicated to this purpose.
China's H-6N and H-20 bombers will be supplemented by the H-20, which can perform nuclear missions. The H-20 bomber will be capable of carrying nuclear-tipped ALCMs and could potentially be used in aerial displays against adversaries. The new bomber will also increase China's strike distance, which could bring rival countries within striking distance.

The H-20's stealthy appearance and long range make it a versatile aircraft. For increased stealth, its wings can be folded or straightened. Although it might be less visible than the H-6, it is still a significant improvement.
Xian Y-20U refueling variant of indigenous airlifter
China is currently developing its Xian Y-20U wingtip refueling version of its indigenous airlifter. These aircraft are being used by the Chinese military for aerial refueling. PLAAF currently has a fleet of H-6 tankers. These aircraft are limited in range, and can only carry 30 tonnes of fuel. The Y-20U is a viable option for aerial cargo tanker missions due to its improved performance.
The Y-20U, an indigenous airlifter, is designed for long-range missions. The Xian Y-20U is an advanced aircraft design, high-performance engine, and extended flight distance could enable the PLA increase its reach, and the range of its fighters. The Y-20U could also be a valuable asset for future Pacific missions.
The Soviet-era Il-78 Midas Y-20U was designed in a similar way. It has the same capacity and three refuelling outlets in its wings as an Il-78.

Xian Y-20U stealth plane
China's most advanced stealth weapon, the Y-20U stealth attack bomber, has been developed. It can transport 66 tons of cargo and has an operating range of more than 7,800 km. China plans to fly the aircraft more often in the future. More than 20 of the aircraft are in production.
China's Y-20 has played many roles, including as an aerial refuelling vehicle for the Chinese military. It is more versatile than Western jets because of its low profile and high fuel consumption. Its endurance makes it an attractive candidate for export to international clients.
The Y-20U could also play a key role in a possible military invasion of Taiwan. China has threatened Taiwan repeatedly and said it is ready to launch a military intervention in Taiwan within the next few year. Taiwan's government is moving to decouple from the mainland, and Beijing views it as a "rogue province." The Chinese government has repeatedly stated that they will prevent Taiwan from declaring its own independence, and the Y-20 may play a vital role in this.
