A military robot is a machine that has been designed to replace human soldiers. These machines don't need to be fed or sheltered from the elements. They do not have feelings, passions or emotions. This allows them to minimize the unprofessional behavior soldiers are known for. Aside from that, they are not subject to the same strains, fatigue, stress and fatigue as human soldiers.

AVATAR III

AVATARIII military robot is highly customizable unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The robot's payload bay is plug and play, so users can customize it to suit their specific needs. The robot can target, detect and eliminate moving forces and is completely customizable. The AVATAR III also has the same tactical capabilities and features as its larger brother, the AVATAR IIITactical Robot. It is equipped with dual IR/LED lights and a durable, drop-resistant casing.

The capabilities of the AVATAR III are vast and go far beyond battlefield. It can help law enforcement and first responders better assess and respond to dangerous situations. It is rugged and flexible. It has two-way audio and can operate on multiple wireless channels simultaneously. The robot is also capable of navigating a variety of different terrain types and environments, making it an excellent choice for combat or law enforcement missions.

REDOWL

iRobot is developing REDOWL, a robotic military vehicle. It is based upon neural-network circuitry and mimics the behavior nerve cells. However, unlike other robots it does not have a programming language. It must learn by trial-and-error. It can recognize gunshots, and it can guess the direction of sound. The difference between the guesses and the actual location of sound is fed to the animal, who then runs another trial. It gradually learns from this experience and develops a 'neural connection' with the sound source.


The REDOWL robot is equipped with an array of acoustic systems and optics systems that can determine the source and direction of gunfire. A packbot is attached to it, which is a small robot tank. The modified Xbox controller is used to control the robot. It is capable of entering hazardous buildings and can spot gunfire within milliseconds. It has two wide-angle cameras as well as a thermal imaging camera that can identify targets. It is ideal for urban surveillance, hostage/barcade situations and perimeter protection missions.

MUTT

The MUTT robot can assist ground forces in combat or carry out remote operations. Its advanced technology makes it an ideal tool for lightening the load of ground forces. Remotely controlled and teleoperated, it can increase stand-off against enemy threats as well as enhance combat power projection. The robot's flexible design makes it possible to adapt to new payloads, controllers, or higher levels of autonomy.

GDLS designed the MUTT, a military robot that is based on SMMET (Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport) program. This program is intended to expand the boundaries of autonomous operations and change the paradigm in manned/unmanned warfare. It is planned to be in service with IBCTs by the end of 2022. It comes with varying levels autonomy and can fire directly and indirectly, as well as autonomous resupply. It is also capable of counter-drone operations.

BigDog

Boston Dynamics is currently developing a military robot named the BigDog. It will be able travel long distances with soldiers and supplies. Developed to run over a variety of terrains, BigDog can also traverse enemy positions and minefields. This makes it an ideal way to strengthen a unit without putting them in danger. Its sturdy and reliable design makes it able to hold a variety of items.

Boston Dynamics, the company behind BigDog, is working with DARPA on improving the military robot. The company has designed the BigDog military robot to be able to cross multiple types of terrains and bring supplies to soldiers in the field. Another DARPA-sponsored military robot, called AlphaDog, is a seven-ton robot that has been designed to spearhead combat formations.
