Arleigh Burke flight IIii is a highly advanced guided missile destroyer in the navy. It can perform a variety of naval tasks including anti-submarine warfare, land attack and ballistic missile defense. The class is built with a combination of ship-to-ship and ship-to-air combat systems, including the latest anti-submarine combat system and an advanced towed sonar array, as well as ship-to-ship and air-launched cruise missiles.
Arleigh Burke Flight iii is one the most important and influential vessels in the naval fleet. It was one the first US Navy ships to get the Aegis Baseline 9 combat control system. The new system is a major upgrade to the Aegis Systems and can perform Anti-Air Warfare, Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and other functions.
It is equipped with an AN/SPY-6V radar, which provides a significantly increased capability. It allows Flight III ships the ability to simultaneously perform AAW and BMD. This fulfills the need for enhanced surface combatant Integrated Air and Missile Defense capabilities (IAMD).

Current work is underway to modernize the Arleigh Burke class, which has been in service for nearly 30 years. A hybrid-electric drive is being installed on the vessels to reduce fuel consumption and increase operational time by 2.5 days before they need to refuel.
A new missile defense technology has been installed on Arleigh Burkes. This active missile decoy system by BAE Systems Australia mk53 Nulka uses hovering Rockets to deflect incoming rockets. This system will be installed on 33 more Arleigh Burke vessels, and on some USN land-based patrol vessels.
A modernized flight deck, Evolved Sea Sparrow weapon, and Kingfisher mine detection system have been added to the ships. Aegis antisubmarine radar, the most recent version, has been fitted to the ships.
These ships have been serving for more than thirty years and are considered one of the best ships in the US Navy. They support maritime security operations, theater cooperation, and antisubmarine-warfare missions in U.S. 5th Fleet's area of responsibility.

It is capable of carrying land-attack cruise missiles, air-launched rockets, and ship to-ship missiles. It also has a mobile command and control post that can support aircraft.
A number of Arleigh Burke destroyers have a Phalanx Cannon Based CIWS defence system. This system is an airborne gun system that can shoot down aircraft from the airframe. You can configure the system to shoot in any direction and fire at up 20 targets per minute.
The Arleigh Burke class was originally planned to be replaced with the Zumwalt-class destroyers, but an increasing threat from long- and short-range missiles has made it essential that the ships remain in service. The ships will be updated to have the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMD) capability which is a vital part of the class's role in the Navy.
