Developed for military purposes, computer hardware and software can be integrated into tools to improve performance. Specialized computers have secret components and encryption chips that are not available to the public. The first military computers used mechanical analogue computers as central processing units in gunnery. Many of these computers today are integrated into tools.

Enterprise systems are computer systems with large scale that can manage many users and interface to many other systems. These systems usually run at the DoD Level and must be reliable. These systems can be purchased commercially or developed in-house. Enterprise systems can be anything from financial and human resources databases to software development environments.

Vehicles that can withstand explosives

Vehicles that are explosively resistant to IED attacks or ambushes are called explosive-resistant military vehicles. These vehicles were developed in response to increased IED threat during the Iraq War. These vehicles are currently being used in Iraq and Afghanistan. The military currently has three types of MRAPs: heavy, lightweight, and fully-armored.

The LVTP-7 was originally the first MRAP. Later, it was redesigned as AAVP7A1 (Advanced Armor-Resistant Vehicle). It is a powerful assault vehicle and is an important platform for the U.S. Marine Corps' amphibious force. It can carry up 25 combat-ready marines by water and travels at 45 mph on the ground.

Robotics

The demand for military robots has increased as wars continue to rage around the globe. The development of military robots has been a major focus for countries such as the US, China, India, and India. DARPA (a government agency that focuses exclusively on robotics technology) is always seeking new ways to improve military drones.


Robots have numerous advantages over human soldiers. They can be used for boring and dangerous tasks that would normally be too difficult for soldiers. They can be programmed to make basic decisions, navigate terrain, and even survive in battle zones containing chemical weapons. They can also be used in dirty environments and high gravity pressure.

Today's technologically advanced military is looking into the possibility of using armed robots as a means to aid in war. Gatling gun, which is designed to automatically fire at missiles, is used on many warships. Israel currently deploys machine gun-turrets near its border with Gaza.

The introduction of autonomous robots to the workplace is raising ethical questions. One expert, Noel Sharkey, from Sheffield University, argues that autonomous robots cannot distinguish between combatants and civilians. In addition, the proportionality principle says that robots should never kill civilians for military advantage.

High-tech weapons

The world's most technologically advanced military looks to the future in search of new weapons. The rise in conflicts and hot spots worldwide is driving military R&D. The United States is expected to spend $80billion this year on R&D, an increase of 5% over the previous year. 2017 plans call for more spending. The next generation of weapons is being developed by small tech start-ups as well as defense contractors. They are not just trying amaze wartech geeks.

Some weapons are still in their prototype stages. However, the U.S. develops weapons with 1,000-mile distances and shore to-shore missiles. Some weapons are in use, while others are in development.
